What do we do?

At We WILL Grow, we strive to teach the ease of growing fresh fruits and vegetables for Will County.

Founded in 2014, the We WILL Grow Community Garden Program was initiated to educate Will County residents on the ease of growing fresh fruits and vegetables. Our program works with partners to help bring healthy food options to those facing barriers that prevent them from accessing fresh, healthy foods.

Developing a community garden program

When developing a successful community garden program, it can be difficult to account for all the factors that can appear. Here are a couple of things you can consider when creating a garden program like We WILL Grow:

  • How can the community interact with the garden?

  • What organizations/partners can help with the program?

  • Who will gain from having a community garden?

  • How will the program reach out to gardeners?

  • How will the garden be maintained?

  • How will the program reach out to potential volunteers?

  • How can the program be engaging during the off-season of the garden?

  • What are the ways that you will raise funds or ensure future funding?

By thinking ahead, a community garden program can grow to be inviting

and beneficial to your community!
